Direct Care Staff Duties + Related Tasks

Your effort is displayed through the care of the client.

You are directly responsible for the safety, and well being of the client during your shift. This includes maintaining the clients hygiene, following nutritional guidelines and levels of comfort. The following includes target goals for each shift as they are related to the Direct Care Staff position;

1st shift (Daily) 3PM - 11 PM or 8AM - 8PM (Weekends)

  • Transport clients home from daytime activity (If applicable)

  • Check & change non - ambulatory clients for cleanliness (see if they need to be changed)

  • Check, clear, and clean lunch bags of any food from the day.

  • Prepare evening meal using proper nutritional guide (We have several clients with dietary restrictions). Properly close off & store opened packages for later use.

  • Date/label leftovers & properly storing for use within 24 hours.

  • Preparing lunches for clients who attend a day program. (Includes feeding tube + supplies) Freezing a water bottle / ice pack helps to keep food at a safe traveling temperature to & from destinations and is crucial when packing lunches

  • Distribute medications (if applicable)

  • Bathe the client, and prepare them for bed.

  • Clean kitchen; including washing dishes, sweep, and wipe down counters with cleaning solution.

  • Document the services you provided during your shift as they relate to billable services.

1st shift / 8AM - 8PM / Weekends

You are responsible for the tasks above, and the additional tasks below.

  • Prep & Perform community outing (If scheduled)

  • Clean, and Organize clients belongings (Closets, Drawers)

  • Dust Furniture & Electronics in home & Clean as needed

  • Wash clients bed linens & pillow cases

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner following client nutritional guidelines

    & Passing medications
