The What, Who, & Why of Individualized Skills and Socialization
The What - Individualized Skills and Socialization is a program that replaced Day Habilitation Programming in the State of Texas in March 2023. After long time audits, the State decided to increase the attention on the people being served, reducing work like settings for people with IDD many being under paid. Current regulations is geared towards the skill retention and further development of people with IDD.
The Who - ISS was developed to better service the needs of people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities. Each person has an Individual Plan of Care which provides instruction on the clients level of need, their abilities, and their plan of action in providing them the best engagement possible.
The Why - To ensure the IDD population is well taken care of, given opportunities for social engagement and growth, and finally reduce the ability to take advantage of the disabled population through increased regulation.
We’ve been ahead of the curve.
